{"id":232,"date":"2022-12-18T14:25:56","date_gmt":"2022-12-18T14:25:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sluggerpost.com\/?p=232"},"modified":"2024-03-16T13:17:21","modified_gmt":"2024-03-16T13:17:21","slug":"france-home-made-label-to-combat-reheated-dishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sluggerpost.com\/?p=232","title":{"rendered":"France &#8216;home-made&#8217; label to combat reheated dishes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>27 June 2013 From the BBC<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>French MPs have approved a bill forcing restaurants to label as &#8220;home-made&#8221; dishes which were prepared from raw ingredients in their kitchen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;fait maison&#8221; label on menus is aimed at curbing the practice of buying in pre-cooked meals from outside, microwaving them and passing them off as freshly made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Restaurants marking dishes as &#8220;fait maison&#8221; fraudulently will be fined.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senate (upper house) still has to back the bill for it to become law.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MPs from both the ruling Socialist Party and opposition centre-right UMP called for the measure to be obligatory, overruling Business and Tourism Minister Sylvia Pinel, who did not want it to go that far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re making things more transparent and restoring our trade&#8217;s respectability,&#8221; said Didier Chenet, head of restaurant federation Synhorcat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignleft\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim\"><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-233\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/sluggerpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/waitress--300x200.jpg\" data-object-fit=\"cover\"\/><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Clients will know what to expect.
